History states that BALCHÃO was introduced by the catholic Portuguese to Goa, India, during colonisation. BALCHÃO originated in Macao (also once a Portuguese colony), where it is called BALICHÃO.
Balchão has been described as “a fiery dish from Goa (in Coastal Western India) which is almost like a pickle”.It is a Spicy Prawn dish in Goan cuisine.
Inspired by BALCHÃO, we have created a signature dish called COSTAL BALCHÃO.
